CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2022 PRAYER God of love: Sometimes you might want us to pay a price for following your Son Jesus. Remind us daily, with the help of this game piece, that in the words of Jesus, there is a cost to following him. We do love you and want to show others how much we love you by the way we live. Give each of us opportunities to look just like Jesus. Amen.
Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost Communion Worship Service - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2022 Friends, a disciple means a follower – someone who follows Jesus Christ. To follow Jesus, we leave our old way of life as we surrender to God's way.
EIGHTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST - HYMN SING WORSHIP - 07-31-2022 I sing praises to Your name, O Lord, praises to Your name, O Lord, for Your name is great and greatly to be praised; I sing praises to Your name, O Lord, praises to Your name, O Lord, for Your name is great and greatly to be praised.
CHILD MESSAGE - JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES - SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH, 2022 Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your Word, the Bible. Please help us to understand and follow it. Please help us to follow Jesus. THIRD SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST - SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH, 2022 - “The Power of One Vision†The vision, both then and now, is to go to our Jerusalem, our Judea, and our Samaria and be witnesses to them. When we unite around this, powerful things happen. Replace the locations Jesus mentioned with our town, state, and Country and focus on what it will take to go into those places with the message of the Gospel. You can have an impact right in our community by looking out for opportunities to witness other people and to help other people as they begin to see. Our vision to send disciples will result in more disciples, and more disciples, and more disciples.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 2022 Have you ever been promised something? Did you think you would get it even when you didn’t know what it was? Abraham did a lot of trust that God will take care of him. When is it hard to trust someone? Abraham we a good father, and God made him the Father of Nations.
FATHER DAY WORSHIP - SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 2022 On this day when we remember what it means to have a father or be a father, we recognize the importance of fathers in our communities. We pledge as a congregation to love and nurture the fathers among us so that they will manifest the love of God in all that they do.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JUNE 12, 2022 Prayer: Dear God, thank you for giving us the tools to pray. Help us come to you for all that we need. And remind us to pray at all times. Thank you that Jesus prayed for us. Thank you that you are the One True God – Father – Son – Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love. We love you, God! In Jesus’s name, Amen!

PENTECOST SUNDAY - JUNE 5TH, 2022 - THE POWER OF ONE PERSON Pentecost is the building of community. It is overcoming the differences and making connections. It is building up the body. Pentecost is about the church being the church. Pentecost reminds us that this is a small world, and wherever you go, you are likely to find members of your family gathered around the living Word and the winds of the Spirit.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - DISTURBING THE CITY ACTS 16:25-34, NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION Paul and Silas Are Thrown into Prison 25About midnight Paul and Silas were praying. They were also singing hymns to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. 26Suddenly there was a powerful earthquake. It shook the prison from top to bottom. All at once the prison doors flew open. Everyone’s chains came loose. 27The jailer woke up. He saw that the prison doors were open. He pulled out his sword and was going to kill himself. He thought the prisoners had escaped. 28“Don’t harm yourself!” Paul shouted. “We are all here!” 29The jailer called out for some lights. He rushed in, shaking with fear. He fell down in front of Paul and Silas. 30Then he brought them out. He asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus. Then you and everyone living in your house will be saved.” 32They spoke the word of the Lord to him. They also spoke to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night, the jailer took Paul and Silas and washed their wounds. Right away he and everyone who lived with him were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into his house. He set a meal in front of them. He and everyone who lived with him were filled with joy. They had become believers in God. New International Reader's Version (NIRV) Copyright © 1995, 1996, 1998, 2014 by Biblica, Inc.®. Used by permission. All rights reserved worldwide.
SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER-DISTURBING THE CITY-SUNDAY, MAY 29, 2022 “Good trouble” is a phrase that has grown in the consciousness of the nation. Representative John Lewis, a towering figure for civil rights, coined the phrase; and more than that, he lived it. Our text for this week says there are wrongs that need righted. But maybe it isn’t quite that clear.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE ACTS 16:9-15, NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION 9 During the night Paul had a vision. He saw a man from Macedonia standing and begging him. “Come over to Macedonia!” the man said. “Help us!” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia. We decided that God had called us to preach the good news there. Lydia Becomes a Believer in Philippi 11At Troas we got into a boat. We sailed straight for Samothrace. The next day we went on to Neapolis. 12From there we traveled to Philippi, a Roman colony. It is an important city in that part of Macedonia. We stayed there several days. 13On the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate. We walked down to the river. There we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered together. 14One of the women listening was from the city of Thyatira. Her name was Lydia, and her business was selling purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to accept Paul’s message. 15She and her family were baptized. Then she invited us to her home. “Do you consider me a believer in the Lord?” she asked. “If you do, come and stay at my house.” She succeeded in getting us to go home with her. SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - SUNDAY, MAY 22, 2022 - OPENED THE HEART If the Third Sunday of Easter was about hearing God’s call for the first time, this week is about carrying on that conversation. God doesn’t tap us on the shoulder and then leave us alone to figure it out. God is a constant presence, guiding, advising, hinting, and strengthening us for the discipleship journey.
SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2022 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE Peter Explains His Actions 11The apostles and the believers all through Judea heard that Gentiles had also received God’s word. 2Peter went up to Jerusalem. There the Jewish believers found fault with him. 3They said, “You went into the house of Gentiles. You ate with them.” 4Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story. 5“I was in the city of Joppa praying,” he said. “There I had a vision. I saw something that looked like a large sheet. It was being let down from heaven by its four corners. It came down to where I was. 6I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth. There were also wild animals, reptiles and birds. 7Then I heard a voice speaking to me. ‘Get up, Peter,’ the voice said. ‘Kill and eat.’ 8“I replied, ‘No, Lord! I will not! Nothing that is not pure and “clean” has ever entered my mouth.’ 9“A second time the voice spoke from heaven. The voice said, ‘Do not say anything is not pure that God has made “clean.” ’ 10This happened three times. Then the sheet was pulled up into heaven. 11“Just then three men stopped at the house where I was staying. They had been sent to me from Caesarea. 12The Holy Spirit told me not to let anything keep me from going with them. These six brothers here went with me. We entered the man’s house. 13He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house. The angel said, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon Peter. 14He has a message to bring to you. You and your whole family will be saved through it.’ 15“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them. He came just as he had come on us at the beginning. 16Then I remembered the Lord’s words. ‘John baptized with water,’ he had said. ‘But you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17God gave them the same gift he gave those of us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. So who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” 18When they heard this, they didn’t object anymore. They praised God. They said, “So then, God has allowed even Gentiles to turn away from their sins. He did this so that they could live.”
FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - SUNDAY, MAY 15TH, 2022 Change is all around us, even in the church. And change is never easy. Our text this week is about a whole new direction for the beginnings of the church.
MOTHER'S DAY CHILDREN'S MESSAGE Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for Jesus and Mary who an examples of the best Christian Mother. Help us to remember as we celebrate Mother’s Day, that Jesus was the greatest gift of all. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Third Sunday of Easter - Who are You, Lord? Children's Message ACTS 9:1-6, NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION Saul Becomes a Believer 9Meanwhile, Saul continued to oppose the Lord’s followers. He said they would be put to death. He went to the high priest. 2He asked the priest for letters to the synagogues in Damascus. He wanted to find men and women who belonged to the Way of Jesus. The letters would allow him to take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3On his journey, Saul approached Damascus. Suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4He fell to the ground. He heard a voice speak to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you opposing me?” 5“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus,” he replied. “I am the one you are opposing. 6Now get up and go into the city. There you will be told what you must do.”
Third Sunday of Easter - Who are You, Lord? A show of support or challenge to change: There are all sorts of ways to give a witness in the name of the Lord who calls us. The more we do it and do it together, the further we travel on the discipleship path.
Children's Message - See and Touch - April 24, 2022 The Bible gives us great hope. We can’t see God necessarily, but
How Does Easter Impact My Life - Sunday, April 24, 2022 - Worship Service There is coming a day when those who are in a relationship with Christ will experience their own
PALM SUNDAY CHILDREN'S MESSAGE We must pray, “God forgive me as I forgive others who have hurt me.” This part of the prayer is not saying that God forgives us just because we forgive. God forgives as we practice forgiveness toward others. Part of being in God’s family is that we are part of a forgiven and forgiving group. All of us have been forgiven and knowing the forgiveness of God gives us a chance to forgive others. God forgives us and puts our sin so far away that it is forgotten! I wonder if we can do that?
PALM AND PASSION SUNDAY, APIL 10TH, 2022 - THE LORD NEEDS IT Here we are again. We are on the brink of the remembrance of the central event of our faith. Holy Week and Easter shape our understanding of who we are as followers of Jesus Christ more than any other single event. We are, as others have said, Easter people living in a Good Friday world. We are defined by this sacrifice and by this gift of eternity. And it all begins with Palm Sunday.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 9, 2022 - THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD - WELL PLEASED - WORSHIP SERVICE Epiphany is about the revealing of the light to the world. Not all see it, of course; this is why Jesus frequently said, “let those who have ears to hear, hear.” Even we have moments where we aren’t so sure that we have seen that light. Yet, we who gather for worship have caught a glimpse of something, and we come to celebrate and to lean into that hope.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE There Are Only a Few Workers 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues. He preached the good news of the kingdom. And he healed every illness and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he felt deep concern for them. They were treated badly and were helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is huge. But there are only a few workers. 38 So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest field.”
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH, 2021 - DEDICATED TO COMPASSION WORSHIP SERVICE And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:35-38 (ESV)
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31ST, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE CHILDREN’S MESSAGE: 32“You have spoken well, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one. There is no other God but him. 33To love God with all your heart and mind and strength is very important. So is loving your neighbor as you love yourself. These things are more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34Jesus saw that the man had answered wisely. He said to him, “You are not far from God’s kingdom.” From then on, no one dared to ask Jesus any more questions.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31ST, 2021 - NOT FAR FROM THE KINGDOM- WORSHIP SERVICE “When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, ‘You art not far from the kingdom of God’” (Mark 12:34). Jesus could see right through people. They might hide behind pleasantries and smiles around each other but not with Jesus. He knew all. The Pharisees feigned sincerity; He called them hypocrites. Sadducees framed flattering questions; He saw bait in the trap. Peter acted as if he had no fears; Jesus saw one who would soon dodge a maiden’s question. In the context of Mark 12:28–34, Jesus had been dealing with those far from the kingdom—the Pharisees by their formality, the Sadducees by their skepticism, the publicans and sinners by their vices, and the multitude by its ignorance. No one had come honestly desiring to know the truth, so all had been sent home in shame. However, Jesus saw something different in this scribe. He was close to the border of the spiritual kingdom of God.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2021 - NOW MY EYE SEES - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE JOB 42:10-17, NIRV [1] 10After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him successful again. He gave him twice as much as he had before. 11All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came to see him. They ate with him in his house. They showed their concern for him. They comforted him because of all the troubles the Lord had brought on him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. 12The Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life even more than the first part. He gave Job 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels. He gave him 1,000 pairs of oxen and 1,000 donkeys. 13Job also had seven sons and three daughters. 14He named the first daughter Jemimah. He named the second Keziah. And he named the third Keren-Happuch. 15Job’s daughters were more beautiful than any other women in the whole land. Their father gave them a share of property along with their brothers. 16After all of that happened, Job lived for 140 years. He saw his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. 17And so Job died. He had lived for a very long time.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2021 - NOW MY EYE SEES - WORSHIP SERVICE So, what do we do in worship this week? We give thanks, even as we wait for the coming of the kin-dom. This is an Advent-like moment to embrace the now and the not yet in tension or in coexistence. We celebrate new life and new hope, even as we grieve death and loss. We point toward the glimpses of grace at work in our community, even while we confess the times “we have failed to be an obedient church” as the traditional liturgy states. So, we sing the praises of a God who answers prayer, even while we continue to call upon the Spirit to bring justice and an end to hate.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: TO AND FRO ON THE EARTH JOB 1:1, NIRV [1] 1There was a man who lived in the land of Uz. His name was Job. He was honest. He did what was right. He had respect for God and avoided evil.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD, 2021 - WORSHIP AND COMMUNION SERVICE: TO AND FRO ON THE EARTH Care needs to be taken as we launch into this series. If ever there was a time where the worship team needs to take the congregation by the hand and walk them through the expectations of worship, it is in this series.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE: OUT OF THE WHIRLWIND What ought we expect when we come to worship? To ease into some comfortable bubble protected from the difficult world out there? Or to be shaken to the core by the awesome majesty of the God we worship? To be honest, there is nothing wrong with the warm comfort of the presence of God through the caring community that is the church. We don’t mean to suggest setting that aside. But once in a while, we do need to be reminded of what it is that we mean when we speak of the awesome God.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, 20212 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: OUT OF THE WHIRLWIND JOB 38:1, 34-38, NIRV [1] 38 The Lord spoke to Job out of a storm. He said, JOB 38:34-38 34“Can you give orders to the clouds?
Giving Thanks-Sunday, August 15, 2021-WORSHIP SERVICE Every fourth week of November, we tell ourselves that Thanksgiving should not just be a once-a-year thing, but a way of living every day. Ephesians 5:15-20 is a call to remember that belief. This brief text sums up with “giving thanks to God the Father at all times.” At all times! What if we held a thanksgiving service here in the middle of August?
Giving Thanks-Sunday, August 15, 2021-CHILDREN'S MESSAGE EPHESIANS 5:19-20, NIRV (NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION) 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. 20Always give thanks to God the Father for everything. Give thanks to him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Speaking Truth-Children's Message - Sunday, August 8th, 2021 EPHESIANS 4:31-5:2, NIRV (NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION) 31Get rid of all hard feelings, anger, and rage. Stop all fighting and lying. Don’t have anything to do with any kind of hatred. 32Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive one another, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done. 51You are the children that God dearly loves. So, follow his example. 2Lead a life of love, just as Christ did. He loved us. He gave himself up for us. He was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.
Speaking Truth-Worship Service - Sunday, August 8th, 2021 Our text this week places a high calling on the people of God. Two of them in fact. The text ends with the urging to be imitators of God. It is difficult to imagine a higher calling than that. But this is why we spend most of our lives in the process of knowing God.
A Life Worthy - Sunday, August 1, 2021 - Children's Message EPHESIANS 4:15-16, NIRV (NEW INTERNATIONAL READER'S VERSION) 15Instead, we will speak the truth in love. So, we will grow up in every way to become the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the body. 16He makes the whole body grow and build itself up in love. Under the control of Christ, each part of the body does its work. It supports the other parts. In that way, the body is joined and held together.
A Life Worthy - Sunday, August 1, 2021 Worship and Communion Service Now we’re moving from preaching to meddling, as the old cliché goes. To declare that there is a life worthy of the gospel is to claim that there is a life that isn’t. There are choices to be made in how we live out our faith. And some of those choices reveal whether we are indeed “rooted and grounded in love” or not.
He Is Our Peace - Sunday, July 18th, 2021 - Worship Service What does it mean to be the dwelling place or a dwelling place for God? How can we present the church and/or the community of faith of something worthy of that designation? In this second chapter of Ephesians, this is the description that we are given of the church: the dwelling place of God. God takes up residence among us. What does it mean to be God’s home?
He Is Our Peace - Sunday, July 18th, 2021 - Children's Message 14Christ himself is our peace. He has made Jews and Gentiles into one group of people. He has destroyed the hatred that was like a wall between us. 15Through his body on the cross, Christ set aside the law with all its commands and rules. He planned to create one new people out of Jews and Gentiles. He wanted to make peace between them.
SETTING OUR HOPE - SUNDAY, JULY 11TH, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE CHILDREN’S MESSAGE SETTING OUR HOPE The Bible says that we should put our hope in the Lord. Or that our God is the God of hope. Well let me tell you something, God is not the God of wishful thinking. Our God, the one true God, is the God of fulfilled promises. That means when you put your hope in the Lord, you are believing that what He says is true. You are believing that He can do what He says He will do. You know when someone makes you a promise, you have two choices: either you can believe that they are going to keep their promise, or you can believe that they are not going to keep their promise. And if you believe that they are going to keep their promise what you are doing is hoping. The real kind of hope is an expectation for good and not bad. So, putting your hope in Jesus Christ means that you believe that what He says is true, that He can do what He’s promised. So, when I say my hope is in the Lord, that’s like a skydiving kind of hope. You know, when somebody jumps off a plane to go skydiving, I’m sure, I’m positive, I have never gone skydiving myself, but I am positive that they check those parachutes at least twice, probably like four times, to make sure that they will work when you jump out of that airplane. But when it comes right down to it, you do not know if it going to work, you cannot prove that it is going to work until you jump out of an airplane and pull the chute.
SETTING OUR HOPE - SUNDAY, JULY 11TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE It’s midsummer, and it may be hard to maintain focus. So what can we do to bring folks back to what worship can be or needs to be for the body of Christ? Throw a party!
YOUR BONE & FLESH-SUNDAY, JULY 4TH, 2021-CHILDREN'S MESSAGE CHILDREN’S MESSAGE – SUNDAY, JULY 4TH, 2021 THE JOY OF FREEDOM There was once a wild donkey. He used to wander about freely in the forest and in the nearby villages. Once while he wandered about on the outskirts of a village, He can across another donkey. The donkey looked very healthy and before him lay a barrel of cold water and a basket full of fresh grass. This donkey belonged to a potter. The wild donkey felt very jealous of him. He said, “Friend, you are fortunate! You get all the food and water that you need with out going anywhere, you also have such a comfortable shed to stay in.” The other donkey did not say anything but barely smiled. The wild donkey started walking towards the forest. He thought about the potter’s donkey for many days. After a few days, he can to the same village once again. He moved towards the potter’s hut wanting to meet his donkey once again. But he saw a very different sight this time. The potter’s donkey was slogging slowly with his head bent low. He was carrying a heavy load on his back. Whenever he stopped even for a moment, the potter will beat him mercilessly with a stick. The wild donkey thought to himself that he was indeed happier than the potter’s donkey. He said to the potter’s donkey, “Friend, I realize that you have to pay a heavy price for your meals and home. I was not aware of it. I am certainly happier than you are. I go wherever I please. There is no one to stop me. I do not get beaten mercilessly like you do. True happiness lies in freedom.” The wild donkey thanked God for giving him his freedom. Moral, freedom in itself is true happiness.
Giving What You Have-Sunday, June 27, 2021-Worship Service We conclude this first after-Pentecost series with an acknowledgment that all that we’ve received is not for ourselves alone. We are called to share, to give, to lean into the transformation of the world as part of our mission. It’s not enough that we are made into disciples; it’s not enough that we are caring for our own souls. We are called to be in service to a hurting world. From the beginning of the faith, we are called to give what we have. Today during the service we will pray for appropriate healing of various kinds. With the stories in the Gospel text, you may come to the altar rail or remain where you are and we can all pray for healing, for ourselves or our world.
Giving What You Have-Sunday, June 27, 2021-Children's Message Message: I have a finished birthday cake. Isn’t it beautiful? It looks yummy, doesn’t it? Don’t you want to dig in? Who needs a spoon or fork? Or should we slice it so that everyone can have a piece? Slicing a cake is sometimes difficult because we use a large sharp knife. At our party, sometimes it is best to ask a grownup for help, especially when using a knife. Is it hard to ask for help? What are some things that you need to ask for help with? Do you sometimes need to ask for help to tie a shoe? Or to reach something in the cabinet that is too high for you to reach? Sometimes people are ashamed to ask for help. They are embarrassed to ask for help. Would you be embarrassed to ask for help slicing this cake? Just as when we see a beautiful cake when we are really hungry and just want to dive in to eat it, the woman in today’s Scripture was even more desperate than that. She was so desperate for help that she was no longer embarrassed to try anything. She was desperate for healing, and she believed that Jesus could provide healing. Just like a cake could make us feel full if we were hungry, so she trusted that Jesus could make her better. First, she had to recognize that she needed help from someone else. Do you know who helped her? Jesus felt the woman’s touch, and he told her that her faith had made her well. She was healed! Jesus saw her faith and courage, and he helped her! It’s okay to ask someone for help. Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed when you can’t do something for yourself. Faith in God means we need the help of Jesus in all things. Don’t be embarrassed to ask Jesus for help. Prayer: Help me, Jesus. Help me ask for help when I seem too small. Help me ask for help when I am too embarrassed. Help me ask for your help always. Amen.
Enduring the Storms Children's Message June 20, 2021 Message: Birthday parties normally have balloons for decorations. Many people don’t like balloons because they may pop and frighten them. I promise I won’t pop this balloon. Have you ever been frightened? Today’s Scripture finds the disciples in a boat during a terrible storm. They are scared to death. They can’t sleep. Waves were crashing over the sides of the boat. I am sure some of them felt that they would fall into the water. Show me with your faces how you think they may have felt. Can you show me a scared face? They looked over at Jesus, and he was asleep! They woke him up and said, “Don’t you care that we may drown?” Jesus got up and ordered the wind to stop. He told the waves to be quiet! And you know what happened? They did! Jesus then told the disciples that they should have had faith in him. The disciples discovered that this man, the one they called Jesus, is so powerful that even the winds and waves obey him. That is strong faith. There will come times in life when we get scared, maybe even terrified. When things scare us, and we become frightened, we always need to remember that Jesus is there to help us. The disciples were afraid and frightened during the storm. A party is for celebrating, as I am sure the disciples did when the storm stopped. If we are frightened by the thought of the balloons popping and scaring us, then let’s put them aside and find something else to use to decorate our party. What do you think we could use? Prayer: Loving and powerful Jesus, the one who is strong enough to quiet the winds, the one who is powerful enough to stop the waves, please comfort us when we are scared. When we become frightened, remind us that your love is stronger than the problems we may have. Amen.
Father's Day & Enduring the Storms Worship-Sunday, June 20, 2021 Green is the dominant color of this long after Pentecost season. It is the color of life and of growth. Here is where the focus switches from the story of Jesus to the story of the church. Not that we leave Jesus behind, of course, but Jesus is now working through the body of Christ, the church, to continue his ministry and invitation in the world. This is our story, who and what we are called to be. This is the story of disciple-making day to day; this is our reason for being.
SUNDAY, JUNE 13TH, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE MARK 4:35-41 (NIRV) Jesus Calms the Storm 35When evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” 36They left the crowd behind. And they took him along in a boat, just as he was. There were also other boats with him. 37A wild storm came up. Waves crashed over the boat. It was about to sink. 38Jesus was in the back, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him up. They said, “Teacher! Don’t you care if we drown?” 39He got up and ordered the wind to stop. He said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down. And it was completely calm. 40He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Don’t you have any faith at all yet?” 41They were terrified. They asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
SUNDAY, JUNE 13TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE Green is the dominant color of this long after Pentecost season.
BEING RENEWED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JUNE 6TH, 2021 MARK 3:31-35 (NIRV) Jesus’ Mother and Brothers 31Jesus’ mother and brothers came and stood outside. They sent someone in to get him. 32A crowd was sitting around Jesus. They told him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside. They are looking for you.” 33“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” he asked. 34Then Jesus looked at the people sitting in a circle around him. He said, “Here is my mother! Here are my brothers! 35Anyone who does what God wants is my brother or sister or mother.” Prayer: Jesus, help me walk in God’s way. Please give me the strength and help me to serve you even when those close to me do not understand. Amen.
BEING RENEWED -CONFIRMATION AND COMMUNION WORSHIP SERVICE - SUNDAY, JUNE 6TH, 2021 Worship is, of course, about God and not about us. And yet there is a dimension where when we come to completely focus on God, and God in Christ, then we are renewed in the Spirit to continue our discipleship path. So, while we don’t measure worship by how it makes us feel, there is a correlation between being built up and the worship experience where we encounter God.
SPIRIT POURED OUT-SUNDAY, MAY 23RD, 2021 PENTECOST CHILDREN'S MESSAGE ACTS 2: 1-4 (NIRV) The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost 2When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers gathered in one place. 2Suddenly a sound came from heaven. It was like a strong wind blowing. It filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw something that looked like fire in the shape of tongues. The flames separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to speak in languages they had not known before. The Spirit gave them the ability to do this.
SPIRIT POURED OUT-SUNDAY, MAY 23RD, 2021 PENTECOST WORSHIP SERVICE Pentecost worship is about joy, and the invitation is to let the Spirit be poured out on you. But remember, that “you” is plural. Let the Spirit be poured out on all y’all. It was because they were gathered together that this happened.
WORSHIP SERVICE BY THE BISHOP AND CABINET - SUNDAY, MAY 30TH, 2021 Please enjoy a beautiful service by our Bishop and the Cabinet. May this service be a blessing to you. Amen!
SUNDAY, MAY 16TH 2021 - SUNDAY WORHIP SERVICE BY OUR BISHOP AND THE CABINET Worship this final week of Eastertide needs to be a celebration of living the Resurrection with the Resurrected one at our side. It is a reminder that we are not alone, that we continue to journey with the one who calls us and the one who saves us; even as we look forward to the one who will empower us to continue the work of building toward the kin-dom of God. This is a worship service by the Cabinet of the Wisconsin Annual Conference.
NO GREATER LOVE-MAY 9TH, 2021-CHILDREN'S MESSAGE 9“Just as the Father has loved me; I have loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love. In the same way, I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
NO GREATER LOVE-MAY 9TH, 2021-MOTHER'S DAY AND WORSHIP SERVICE It is not our intention to dampen the spirit of the day but to remind worship teams of the delicate nature of recognition. By all means, find ways to give thanks and to give honor. That is one of the tasks of the followers of Jesus (Romans 12:10). At the same time, however, offer prayers of healing for those who are struggling on this day.
ABIDE IN ME-SUNDAY, MAY 2ND, 2021- RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS, WORSHIP ANS COMMUNION SERVICE We are practicing this abiding in Christ as we worship together with the hope that it will continue after the benediction is pronounced and the postlude ends. Cultivating habits for lifelong worship is a part of what we do when we gather for worship – however we gather these days.
ABIDE IN ME-SUNDAY, MAY 2ND, 2021- CHILDREN'S MESSAGE 15“I am the true vine. My Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch joined to me that does not bear fruit. He trims every branch that does bear fruit. Then it will bear even more fruit. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain joined to me, just as I also remain joined to you. No branch can bear fruit by itself. It must remain joined to the vine. In the same way, you can’t bear fruit unless you remain joined to me.15“I am the true vine. Listen to His Voice-APRIL 25TH, 2021-WORSHIP SERVICE The real question for us today is not, “Will God speak to me, to us today?” Instead, will we listen for that voice that is speaking? Jesus doesn’t say, “Listen and maybe I’ll have something to say.” He says, “Listen to my voice.” “I am speaking” is the implied message, so pay attention.
Listen to His Voice-APRIL 25TH, 2021-CHILDREN'S MESSAGE 14“I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me. 15They know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I give my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that do not belong to this sheep pen. I must bring them in too. They also will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd.
TOUCH AND SEE - APRIL 18TH, 2021 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE 37They were surprised and terrified. They thought they were seeing a ghost. 38Jesus said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do you have doubts in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It’s really me! Touch me and see. A ghost does not have a body or bones. But you can see that I do.” Luke 24:37-39
TOUCH AND SEE - APRIL 18TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE Jesus is trying to ground the disciples’ faith in the reality of his presence, in the concreteness of his being. He told them to touch him; he ate in front of them. He was announcing that he was real. What can we provide, what hands-on proof can we give that Jesus is alive among us? Of course, we have been in a pandemic and touching is still not something we want to engage in. But we can still give examples of lives being touched, hearts being touched.
EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE-COURTLAND CEMETERY- SUNDAY, APRIL 4TH, 2021 Let there be joy – however it takes to project it, whether in person or through a screen or even in print. Tell jokes, funny stories; let there be laughter. Easter is a day to feel, even more than to understand. It is a day to accept more than a day to explain. Even though our foundations have been shaken, we move forward, because that is where the Risen one is going. He is going ahead of you. Let’s keep moving forward.
Unless I See - SUNDAY, APRIL 11TH, 2021-CHILDREN'S MESSAGE 25So they told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “First I must see the nail marks in his hands. I must put my finger where the nails were. I must put my hand into his side. Only then will I believe.”
Unless I See - SUNDAY, APRIL 11TH, 2021-WORSHIP SERVICE On the Sunday after Easter, there is a general let down. It is hard to maintain the heights that we attain on the celebration of Resurrection Day. The pastor is often on vacation; the choir scales back. Even in this still uncertain time of pandemic, there might be a tendency to relax a little bit on this week. Resist that tendency!
Terror and Amazement-SUNDAY, APRIL 4TH, 2021-EASTER AND COMMUNION WORSHIP SERVICE Let there be joy – however it takes to project it, whether in person or through a screen or even in print.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, APRIL 4TH, 2021-Terror and Amazement 8The women were shaking and confused. They went out and ran away from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. Mark 16:8
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE - FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2021 In a way, Good Friday is not so much about understanding but experiencing. That’s why the mood is so important. What do you want to have happened in the core of those who participate in worship in this service? We can’t always give a meaning that will satisfy the mind. Who can explain this sacrifice of blood on a cross from one we have come to call Lord or Savior?
Maundy Thursday -A Lamb For Each Household-April 1st, 2021 This Maundy Thursday, we remember what Jesus did; we go back to that moment. But if we stayed in that past, if we didn’t see that this command was, as Exodus states, “a perpetual ordinance” to be observed, to be enacted with our whole lives, then we’ve missed something significant about this moment.
THE ONE WHO COMES - SERMON The text: Mark 11:1-11 - New International Version Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’” 4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna! [a]” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” [b] 10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” 11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
CHILDREN'S MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MARCH 28TH, 2021 Children’s Prayer: Dear God, as we celebrate on this Palm Sunday help us to remember that day when all the adults and children waved palm branches and cheered as Jesus entered Jerusalem as King. We know Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. Help us to remember that he is our wonderful King and that we can praise him every day! In Jesus’ name – Amen.
THE ONE WHO COMES - SUNDAY, MARCH 28, 2021 WORSHIP SERVICE Palm Sunday is not just Palm Sunday; it is more properly Palm/Passion Sunday. That slash is important. It is a reminder that there is risk involved in taking the side of the marginalized. There is danger in trying to upset the status quo. And just when you think you’ve won your point and gathered your crowd, you discover you are alone again.
THE CARING CUPBOARD MINISTRY Randolph Courtland United Methodist Church – “Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” We want to be a church that has an outward focus, seeks justice and care for the poor and makes the community in which we live a better place.
LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE TRHEE HEBREW BOYS - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2021 WORSHIP Daniel 3:1-3, 12-16 - New International Version The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide,[a] and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 2 He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up. 12 But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.” 13 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So, these men were brought before the king, 14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us[c] from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
WRITTEN ON THE HEART - SUNDAY, MARCH 21ST, 2021 CHILDREN'S MESSAGE JEREMIAH 31:31-34, NIRV 31“The days are coming,” announces the Lord.
WRITTEN ON THE HEART - SUNDAY, MARCH 21ST, 2021 WORSHIP SERVICE That the gospel is countercultural is beyond debate. But texts like this one are so subtly against our way of thinking that we might not even realize the pull to deny this proclamation even as we preach it. Yet, how can we make such a claim about a magnificent vision of the kin-dom of God? It seems something that we all long for on a regular basis, particularly during a time of unrest and division. This is a utopia worth claiming, so why would we be reluctant?
Look Up and Live - Sunday, March 14th, 2021 Worship Service This is another occasion of Jesus predicting his death and the doorway that it opened for all of us. And by “another occasion,” we don’t mean how repetitive, but instead, we mean we need to pay attention here. This is important. Worship, then, should be centered around the offering that Christ makes to all.
Greater than your fear - Wednesday, March 10th, 2021 7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
SUNDAY, MARCH 7TH, 2021 - COMMUNION & WORSHIP SERVICE How long? Into eternity. We draw the lines at a funeral as well. The lines of welcome into the heavenly home. And what we thought was a line, the line that divides life and death, was only a doorway, only a corner to turn, that brings us into a new reality. But the lines of God’s people define us here and there. God announces where the lines are for us to live well now, but also so that we will be at home in eternity with God. So that we will recognize the place when we get there. And we’ll go on living between the lines that God has drawn, now and in God’s eternity. All these words draw a picture that sees beyond our vision.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2020 LENTEN WORSHIP Hebrews 11:7
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY, 28TH, 2020 - WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY SERVICE Rending of the hearts, or what we have come to see us giving something up for Lent, has become somewhat anemic these days. Abraham gives an example of a true rending, a true sacrifice. It makes our no chocolate or coffee for a few weeks seem kind of meager. Yet, a sign is a sign. It is about our willingness and our patience.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY, 2021 LENTEN SERVICE MESSAGE There is something powerful about a season that starts in the middle of the week, at night. It suggests that the Lenten journey is a high calling, not for the faint of heart, not for the casual observer. It requires a level of commitment from the beginning. Issue the call to worship as a reach, a stretch, not as a barrier to access, but as a reminder of the strenuousness of the journey ahead.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE Lent begins on Ash Wednesday; we admit that. But this first Sunday is when many people become aware of the season. If there are rituals to be adopted, they will often begin today. So, we are on the brink again, or still, or even for the first time, of the journey. That’s why we begin with promise; we begin with covenant.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH, 2021 - ASH WEDNESDAY FAMILY WORSHIP There is something powerful about a season that starts in the middle of the week, at night. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST, 2021 - Lent 2021 - Children’s Message Videos from Pastor of Color This Lenten season, as most churches continue to stream video for Sunday worship, pastors of color in our conference provide you with a short video of Children’s Message every week. We tell our stories of what we learned about Jesus when we were a kid. You may find us introducing a song that we learned in Sunday School. Some of us sing the song in their mother language. Our hope is that through our sharing of stories our brothers and sisters in Christ - young and old alike - may experience the riches of diversity in Christ’s Church.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE Transfiguration Sunday might not be a common observance in the United Methodist tradition. There are those who do attempt to pay attention to this significant moment in the life and ministry of Jesus, but many do not. Now, as a part of the “Follow Me” series, would be a time to take a moment and consider this event.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE Let us celebrate service today, but not as another call to do more, to give more, to work harder, or to fill our overburdened schedules with work. Yes, there is always a call for more service. But instead, let’s celebrate service by saying “thank you.”
SUNDAY, JANUARY 31ST, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE We are people on a journey of transformation, and it isn’t always easy. Today, we acknowledge the hard work of becoming disciples and of setting aside the weight that clings so closely, of handing over the reins of our lives so that we can be led into wholeness. And so, we can proclaim wholeness to the broken world around us.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 24TH, 2021 - WORSHIP SERVICE How do we convince people that following Jesus is not simply about a state of being, but a call to doing? Certainly, there is a need for training, for preparation, for growing as disciples; but the end is always an outward focus, always looking for ways to connect, to widen the net.
SUNDAY,JANUARY 17TH, 2021 -SECOND AFTER EPIPHANY / COMMUNION SUNDAY SERVICE “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” That’s our guiding phrase from our gospel text for this week. “Anything good?” Surely you can hear how that sounds. Surely in our contentious environment, you hear the presupposition behind the sarcasm. You can hear the prejudice tucked away in such an innocuous joke. We are potentially dealing with some difficult topics this week. They are not difficult because they are complicated but because they are threatening. And personal. And most folks have some pretty entrenched positions on race and ethnicity.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 10TH, 2021 - WORSHIP AND COMMUNION SERVICE Worship should be a celebration; this is the beginning of a new year. We survived 2020, and while there might still be lingering effects of the pandemic and the unrest, it is time to embrace a new possibility, a new hope. The heavens have been torn open. But this isn’t a threat; it’s a promise of something new, something better. Let us commit ourselves to a closer walk with Christ. Let the waters of baptism renew us and cleanse us for our mission and ministry as followers of Jesus.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 3RD - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE We’re wrapping up Christmas this week. Some may have already packed everything away; others may still be sitting in the glow of the lights and tinsel. But the goal isn’t to shuffle it all away, but rather to embrace the fullness of the community that we have become – incorporating the new but becoming one in Christ.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27TH, 2020 - THE BISHOP AND CABINET Order of Worship
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27TH, 2020 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE There is an inevitable let down after Christmas. This is December 27, only two days after the day that most are still digesting. The other phenomenon that normally occurs at this time is that folks are starting to depart; families are returning home; people are going back to work. That may all be different now, even as we will still be recovering or enduring the pandemic. But there is still a shift in thinking, in focus, in direction in these Christmastide worship experiences.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24TH, 2020-CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE What a feeling of celebration, what a joy that all this anticipation has come to a kind of fruition. True, there will always be the questions about whether anything will change in the world around us because of this event. Transformation always takes longer than we think it should. And it often begins with something small, a new vision, a stronger hope, a baby in a manger. Something small that will change everything.

Monday, December 21, 2020 - Longest Night/Blue Christmas Service While we would love to be able to be with you in person, we recognize that it is not safe for us to be together. Please know that we are holding you in our hearts and in our prayers. May you find this service to lift up your soul in this holiday season.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20TH, 2020 - WORSHIP SERVICE It’s the fourth Sunday of Advent, and the tug of war is over. Christmas now takes center stage. Families who have come home and may not join you for Christmas Eve services are expecting a Christmas message. It won’t do to keep to the Advent theme of anticipation of the second coming of Christ. We need to relive the first. We need to live into the first. We are on the threshold of a new world.

SUNDAY, 13TH, 2020 - SUNDAY SERVICE After finding the mess and cleaning it up, what now? Decorations! We’ve got to make the place look great for those who are coming. We want our welcome to be beautiful and our hospitality to be breathtaking. So where do we start? What do we include? What does it matter?
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6TH, 2020 - CHILDREN'S MESSAGE It is one thing to notice that there is work to be done. It is quite another one to determine that you are the one who needs to do that work! This week’s worship is about commitment. That could be hard when a large part of the congregation is still online. How do we get folks to commit to ministry when getting together is difficult? What does ministry look like in this pandemic era? These are some of the questions the worship team might consider answering or at least making suggestions about this week.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH, 2020 - WORSHIP SERVICE-FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT What excitement this season brings! Certainly, you’ve done it many times before; the rituals may be set in stone, the expectations ripe, and the patterns already unrolling. But there is something about the season of Advent that brings forth the kid in us, and we all lean into the hope. So, let the excitement grow; let the buzz be felt.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND, 2020 - CHRILDREN MESSAGE Reign of Christ or Christ the King Sunday is an opportunity to be reminded who is the one we have chosen to follow. It is an opportunity to give thanks for the author of salvation and the one who has given us the gift of the church, the fellowship of the body that we celebrate each time we gather in person or online.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH, 2020 - WORSHIP SERVICE In every gospel message, there is a call. But let it be a call to joy, not to shame or to heaviness. Let it be a call to the possibilities of transformation and growth. Invite the community to more— more love, more joy, more fellowship, and connection.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH, 2020 - WORSHIP SERVICE This worship experience is both an inspiration to live each day aware of that presence and to acknowledge that all of us are closer to the one we follow than we realize.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST, 2020 - ALL SAINTS AND COMMUNION SUNDAY All Saints Day falls on a Sunday this year. John Wesley considered it one of the greatest celebrations in the life of the church. “How superstitious are they who scruple giving God solemn thanks for the lives and deaths of his saints!” said Wesley in 1756. Year after year, he commented on the celebration of the saints. It was a festival he dearly loved.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25TH, 2020 - REFORMATION SUNDAY Reformation Sunday is an interesting event. In one sense, it has become an opportunity for all non-Catholic churches to celebrate their history that Luther and then others led in a break from the Roman influence in Europe. Some historians claim that it was on October 31 that Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the Wittenberg church door. So, this is the Sunday closest to that event.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18TH, 2020 LAITY WORSHIP SERVICE The word for today is presence: God’s abiding and constant presence — not a random, “force-like” presence that just is. This is an intimate presence, a personal presence, a presence that knows your name. What a proclamation to bring this week! You are known. In our over-mediated society, it is often the individual who gets lost in the mass of voices and noise that surrounds us. There are many of you in our congregation who can attest to feeling lonely in a crowd. This week could be an antidote to those feelings.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11TH, 2020 WORSHIP SERVICE Does it seem that there are simply too many things to think about these days? It’s overwhelming, to say the least. “Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Phil. 4:8).

SUNDAY, 4TH, 2020 - WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY SERVICE Press on: That’s the phrase that is driving us this week, and it is driving this whole series. Press on. The text begins with Paul’s idiosyncratic claim of self-promotion. “If anyone else has reason to be confident in the flesh, I have more!” Yes, of course, he tosses this away in a few verses, but doesn’t it sometimes sound like he’s boasting about not boasting? SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2020 WORSHIP SERVICE Manna, that’s what we’re celebrating today. Manna in the wilderness, sustenance for the journey. But also a question. “Manna” in Hebrew translates as, “What is it?” The perfect question for this odd stuff that just appeared in the wilderness every morning.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH, 2020 WORSHIP SERVICE Remember, we are in the wilderness. The people standing on the shore, amazed at what God had accomplished, were not done with their journey. They had only just begun. We are on a journey too, making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. And we have only just begun.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2020 WORSHIP AND COMMUNION SERVICE If there is an emotion that seems to resonate throughout the texts for this first week of our new series, it is anger. If there is an emotion that often will launch us into a wilderness experience, it is also anger. So, this seems to be where we need to begin.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23RD, 2020 - SERMON This is a passage about identity. It is first about the identity of Jesus. Who was he? Who is he? Peter got it right. Jesus says so. "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Theologically, he is declaring that Jesus is the one we have been looking for, the one we need, whether we are aware of that need or not. “You are the Messiah.” And that this Messiah, the one we need, is the one who comes from God - is of one essence with God - the Son of the living God. Peter declares, whether he realizes it or not, that Jesus is the one who connects, who brings together human need and divine presence. Jesus is the one who reconciles, who puts us in our brokenness back in touch with God’s wholeness.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 16TH, 2020 - WORSHIP SERVICE If you add one more verse past the reading for this week, you end with this: “O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are [God’s] judgments and how inscrutable [God’s] ways!” (Rom. 11:33) This is what we mean by God’s how is ours why. We can’t always figure out what God is doing; we can’t always explain everything that Jesus said and did. But we don’t have to. We just need to love God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength and love our neighbor, all our neighbors, any neighbors, like ourselves. And when they ask why, we say “because of God!”

AUGUST 2ND, 2020 - WORSHIP AND COMMUNION SERVICE Our focus is Jesus. Always, yes of course, but particularly in this series we are looking at Jesus and then looking at us. VIDEO ON RACISM Bishop Hee-Soo Jung of the Wisconsin Conference of The United Methodist Church speaks about the need to take action amid national protests and the rise of Black Lives Matter. In facing the injustice of the deaths of black men and women like Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks, we must learn not simply to avoid racism, but to take on activism in becoming anti-racist.
JULY 26 TH 2020 - SUNDAY SERVICE This house shall be a house of prayer. That isn’t the text for this week. But it is a sentiment behind the thrust of Romans 8:26-39. We are about prayer this week: prayer that transforms, prayer that equips and enables, prayer that overcomes, prayer that conquers. Worship this week should be centered around prayer.
JULY 19TH 2020 - SUNDAY SERVICE The creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
JULY 12TH 2020 - SUNDAY SERVICE Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
JULY 5TH, 2020 WORSHIP SERVICE 5 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) As Americans, we value freedom. Our nation was founded on the principle of “liberty and justice for all.” Our First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to assemble, and freedom to petition the government for redress. While our freedom of religion is under assault today more than ever before, it is the foundation of our nation. Political freedom is a wonderful thing, but spiritual freedom is even better because you can experience it no matter what sort of government you live under. And true spiritual freedom lasts forever. But Freedom is a Christian concept. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
AMERICA-FREEDOM America is hurting from the virus, death, hardship, and loss. Our nation is fighting for justice and equality. Our nation is breaking from division and anger. But, God is still God and He can bring healing to our land. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
BROTHER-LOVE VIDEO We have seen enough of what divides us: race, status, religion. It's time for the Church to step up and speak "love" into these divisions. Featuring music by The Brilliance, “Brother” reminds us that we have more in common than we realize.
JUNE 28, 2020 WORSHIP SERVICE This command, love one another, is addressed directly to Jesus' followers. Christians are to love one another. This doesn't mean that we don't love people who are not Christians or people who don't look like us. On the contrary, we are to love everyone always. That is, “Go, Therefore,” “See All The People,” “Hear All The People,” and “Love All The People.” We are to love our neighbors regardless of race, religion, age, culture, political affiliation, and sexual orientation. Love everyone always. That is, all the people. Amen!
Call to Action for Racial Justice Bishop Hee-Soo Jung talks about the need to take action amid national protests for social justice and civil rights. In facing injustice we must learn not simply to avoid racism, but to take on activism in becoming anti-racist.

While UMCOR cooperates with other aid organizations, the most important partners in the work of recovery are those being served.
